Publication Guidelines for the Journal of Theological Studies

First: General Guidelines

  1. The research must be original and unpublished.
  2. It must be original, unique, and contribute to knowledge.
  3. It must be within the scope of the Journal's specialty.
  4. The material submitted cannot be part of prior published research.
  5. It must adhere to the standards and methodology of academic research.
  6. The research should be submitted in a single file containing the following elements:
    • Title page: including the author’s basic information in both Arabic and English.
    • Abstract: in both Arabic and English.
    • Introduction: which includes an introduction to the topic, its importance, reasons for selecting it, research objectives, the scope of the research, previous studies, research outline, and methodology.
    • Main body of the research.
    • Conclusion: summarizing key findings and recommendations.
    • References: in Arabic.
    • Romanized (Latin-script) list of Arabic references in a separate list.
    • Necessary appendices (if any).
    • Table of contents.
  7. The research, in its entirety, must not exceed 12,000 words or 70 pages.
  8. The basic research information should be provided in both Arabic and English on the title page, and include: (the title, author’s name, academic rank, affiliation "department and university," and email).
  9. Each abstract (Arabic and English) must not exceed 200 words and should fit on a single page, including: the title, main objectives, general methodology, key findings, and recommendations, with an emphasis on accurate translation.
    Each abstract (Arabic/English) should include up to 5 keywords that accurately represent the research topic and primary themes.
  10. The following standards must be observed in manuscript editing:
    • Originality and academic value.
    • Manuscript(s) should be complete copies, not partial segments.
    • The scholarly methodology must be applied in manuscript editing.
  11. Submissions must be sent to the journal's email (عنوان البريد الإلكتروني هذا محمي من روبوتات السبام. يجب عليك تفعيل الجافاسكربت لرؤيته.) as two separate files (each containing both Word and PDF formats): one file containing the author’s full details and the other anonymized.
  12. Upon acceptance for publication, all publishing rights are transferred to the journal, which reserves the right to republish the research in print or electronic formats and to include it in local and international databases, with or without compensation, without requiring the author’s permission.
  13. The researcher is responsible for reviewing their research for linguistic and typographical accuracy.
  14. The author may not republish their research published in the journal in any other publication medium without written permission from the journal’s Editor-in-Chief.
  15. Opinions expressed in the published research papers reflect only the views of the authors and do not necessarily represent the views of the journal or the organization.

Third: Citation Style

The journal follows the Chicago citation style, as outlined below:

  1. Books:
    Begin with the author’s name followed by a comma, then the book title in quotation marks followed by a period, then the edition number followed by a comma, then the place of publication followed by a colon, the publisher followed by a comma, and the year of publication followed by a comma, with publication details enclosed in parentheses. Finally, include the volume and page numbers separated by a colon.
    • Example:
      Abu Bakr Muhammad bin al-Husayn al-Ajurri, "Al-Shariah". (2nd ed., Riyadh: Dar al-Watan, 1420 AH). Edited by Abdullah bin Umar bin Suleiman al-Dumeiji, (11th ed., Beirut: Dar al-Risalah, 2001), 2:148.
  2. Journals Articles:
    Begin with the author’s name followed by a comma, then the article title in quotation marks followed by a period, then the journal name in italics followed by the issue number, then a comma, then the publication date in parentheses followed by a colon, and finally the page number.
    • Example:
      Dr. Altaf al-Rahman bin Thana Allah, "Theological Studies related to Zamzam Water". Islamic University Journal of Sharia Sciences 195, (1442 AH): 25.
  3. Repeated Citations of References:
    The citation should be shortened by listing the author’s surname, followed by a comma, the book title, another comma, and the page number.
    • Example:
      Ibn Taymiyyah, "Minhaj al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah", 3:258.
  4. When citing multiple references by different authors:
    Separate references with a semicolon.
    • Example:
      Ahmad bin Hanbal, "Usul al-Sunnah", 43; al-Khallal, "Al-Sunnah", 7:234.
  5. Online Sources:
    Cite the source as usual, followed by the phrase "Accessed on: / / " and then the URL.
    • Example:
      Khalid bin Muhammad bin Mubarak al-Ahmadi, " The Creedal Issues Related to the Scale of the Day of Resurrection – A Compilation and Study". Journal of Creedal Studies 31, (1444 AH): 24. "Accessed on 29/3/1445 AH" from: https://www.aqeedamm.com/index.php/2018-01-26-23-00-

 

Fourth: List of Sources and References (Bibliography)

  1. Books:
    Author’s surname, first and middle names. "Title of the book in quotation marks". Editor or translator. (Edition, Place of publication: Publisher, Year of publication).
    • Example:
      al-Tamimi, Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab. "Usul al-Iman". Edited by Basim Faisal al-Jawabirah. (5th ed., Riyadh: Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Dawah and Guidance - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 1420 AH).
  2. Journal Articles:
    Author’s surname, first and middle names. "Title of the Article in quotation marks", journal name in italics followed by the issue number, (publication date) followed by a colon, and then the page range of the article.
    • Example:
      Thana Allah, Altaf al-Rahman bin Thana Allah, "Theological Studies related to Zamzam Water". Islamic University Journal of Sharia Sciences 195, (1442 AH): 213-276.

 

Arabic Bibliography Example Format:

Exception: For articles originally published with an English title, retain that title in the English sources list as it appeared in the original source:
